Catalyst is a project of the Teacher Donkoh Foundation (TDF). The Foundation was founded by Ken and Lisa Donkoh to tackle the learning poverty head on, helping all children and youth in Ghana to learn and acquire the skills they need to be productive, fulfilled, and involved citizens. TDF has created Catalyst as a social enterprise, working with school leaders, parents and governmental agencies to deliver superior curriculum content, pedagogy and assessment to affordable schools in Ghana.
In the wake of the COVID-19, we have developed an innovative infrastructure to provide access to low cost offline and online learning opportunities for all children in Ghana, as well as professional development opportunities for teachers and school leaders. Both teachers and children will be able to access content which ranges from video lessons, interactive digital textbooks and supplementary readers, activity books, and formative assessments.
Our focus is on helping teachers, parents and school leaders become more effective in facilitating learning and ensuring learners are equipped for success. We are making technology a driver of equity and inclusion and not a source of greater inequality of opportunity.
As a recovery response to the COVID-19, Catalyst is Launching its Leaning DigiBox, a low cost offline learning device packed with
Engaging animated video lessons for all subjects and for all grades (nursery to JHS 3)
200+ interactive e-textbooks and supplementary eBooks carefully selected in line with the national curriculum.
A well-illustrated children’s English Dictionary
Activity books/workbooks for all subjects and for all grades
Digital assessment/quizzes at the end of each lesson tracking individual progress and providing prompt feedback
Curriculum aligned educational games, puzzles and coding.
